About ATOM Victoria
The Australian Teachers of Media (ATOM) Victoria is the leading professional association for media educators in Victoria. We support teachers, students, and schools by promoting excellence in media education, screen literacy, and creative storytelling.
From primary classrooms to VCE Media, we provide educators with the knowledge, resources, and professional networks needed to engage students in critical media analysis, creative production, and contemporary screen culture.
Supporting Educators:
ATOM Victoria delivers high-quality professional learning, curriculum support, and classroom resources designed by educators, for educators. Through workshops, conferences, webinars, and publications, we help teachers stay informed, connected, and confident in teaching Media across all year levels.

Our Education Shop offers a comprehensive range of teaching resources aligned to the Australian Curriculum and VCE Media Study Design. From lesson plans and study guides to digital resources and classroom materials, our resources are designed to support engaging and effective media education.
Promoting Media Literacy:
We believe media literacy is an essential skill for the 21st century. Through advocacy, professional learning, publications, and student opportunities, ATOM Victoria supports young people to critically analyse media, understand representation and storytelling, and create meaningful screen content of their own.

ATOM Victoria hosts a range of events throughout the year, including our annual State Conference, professional learning seminars, film screenings, and industry partnerships. These events bring together educators, academics, and screen professionals to share ideas, explore emerging trends, and strengthen the media education community.

Since 1982, ATOM has celebrated excellence in screen content through the prestigious ATOM Awards. Recognising outstanding work from professional creators, tertiary students, secondary students, and primary students across Australia and New Zealand, the Awards showcase the power of storytelling and inspire the next generation of screen creators.
